Our Story

“It is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.”

My name is Shaun McFadden. I have been in the hair business since 2001. I started out as a shampoo girl at a popular salon until I eventually got my license and began my career as a dedicated stylist.

I feel that every stylist finds an area of cosmetology that speaks to them the most. While they enjoy all the opportunities that doing hair can bring to them, there is just that one special thing that speaks to them the most, for me that area is formal hair styling.

Around 2012 I found my way to providing hair services for weddings through a very generous and supportive fellow stylist who pushed me to assist her in her own business. I learned so much from her, but the thing I learned the most is how much I love the business of providing brides and their bridal party with a service that makes them feel gorgeous on their very special day. Using my creativity to put a smile on someone’s face has always held a special place in my heart.

Around 2018 my stylist friend decided she wanted to take a break from the wedding business. It was then that I decided to start up my own business so that I could carry on doing what I love! And so Cooper Grace was born!

A little about me…

I met my husband when I was 19 and he was 21. We have been together since 2002 and got married in 2017. We got married in Cooperstown, New York, where my family is from. It is a place that I have loved my whole life and my husband has grown to love just as much as I do.

I currently live in Havre de Grace, Maryland with my husband and two cats, Cooper and Fenimore.

If you haven’t put two and two together yet, Cooper Grace is a combination of the two places my husband and I love so very much! Cooper for Cooperstown and Grace for Havre de Grace. And yes my cat, actually both of them, are named after Cooperstown as well. (James Fenimore Cooper was the son of the founder of Cooperstown, he is also the author of some famous books depicting the frontier and Native American life. The most famous book is The Last of the Mohicans.)

I enjoy anything creative like: photography, art, music, and crafts, but most of all hair.

I am a very easy going person, easy to get along with and very much a people pleaser! I have selected my team to match my values and together we strive to make our guests feel comfortable and at easy with their hair and makeup services so that it is one less thing to worry about on their special day!
